REACH Regulation

The European Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, known as REACH, is a comprehensive framework for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals. It came into effect on June 1st, 2007, and serves to streamline and enhance the EU's former legislative approach to chemicals. The main objectives of REACH are to enhance the protection of human health and the environment from chemical risks, encourage the use of alternative testing methods, facilitate the free circulation of substances within the internal market, and promote competitiveness and innovation.

Under REACH, industry is held responsible for assessing and managing the risks associated with chemicals and providing appropriate safety information to users. Compliance with REACH is mandatory for companies wishing to sell chemical products within the EU. No data means no market in the European Union. In addition, the EU may take additional measures for highly dangerous substances as needed.

ARCHE Consulting has developed expertise in REACH Authorisation and Restriction by building on our experience gained during the REACH Registration phase. We offer a range of high-end risk assessment services to assist industry in meeting REACH's demanding requirements, both for new REACH registration as updates of existing registrations. We also have experience with different Applications for Authorisation (AfA) and can provide a complete chemical safety report (CSR) and exposure scenarios (ES) to demonstrate adequate control or acceptable residual risks. Furthermore, we also provide expert opinions on Restriction dossiers proposed by various EU Member States. For Socio-Economic Analysis (SEA) and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) we have established a partnership with REACHLaw and RPA.

CLP Regulation

The CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) is the EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, which aligns the EU's system of classifying, labelling, and packaging chemical substances and mixtures in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS). ARCHE Consulting's team is well-versed in the various disciplines required to comply with both REACH and CLP regulations and to secure access to the European market for your products. Our experts in environmental fate, ecotoxicology, toxicology, and exposure are ready to assist you in effectively managing REACH obligations.

In addition to preparing REACH dossiers, our experts at ARCHE Consulting are actively involved in writing guidance on the subject, including a metals-specific REACH guidance document (MERAG), developing new REACH tools to facilitate implementation (such as the DU Scaling tool), intelligent testing strategy tools, a soil PNEC calculator, specific environmental release categories (SPERC), and testing beta versions of IUCLID 6 and CHESAR 3 for the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
