From European Positive Lists to market access: what industry needs to know and do now

Free webinar - 26 November 2026
14:00-15:30 CET - Microsoft Teams

The EU Drinking Water Directive (Directive (EU) 2020/2184) introduces harmonised hygiene requirements for materials and products in contact with drinking water. From 31 December 2026, the European Positive Lists (EUPL, Implementing Decision (EU) 2024/367) become the key gateway to the EU market: only substances, compositions and constituents on these lists can be used in such materials.

For many manufacturers and suppliers, the coming months call for important decisions:

  • Renewals: entries expiring in 2028 need a renewal application by July 2027.
  • New applications: substances or compositions not yet listed may need an application to keep their market access after the transitional period.
  • Strategy: future notifications and applications, including for new substances and compositions, need to be planned well in advance.

A successful DWD application goes well beyond compiling migration test results, as was usual under national schemes or the 4MSI framework. It requires early planning, comprehensive data, coordination with accredited laboratories, robust toxicological risk assessment and reporting in IUCLID within strict timelines.

In this free 90-minute webinar, ARCHE Consulting's experts explain what the European Positive Lists mean for your materials and products, and how to prepare in time.

What you will gain

In 90 minutes, our experts explain the new obligations in plain terms and help you to:

  • understand your DWD obligations and the key deadlines;
  • identify risks in your portfolio, such as missing entries, expiry dates and data gaps;
  • prepare an efficient compliance strategy, including options for joint industry applications.

With live polls, practical industry examples and a dedicated Q&A, the webinar is designed to be interactive.

Why ARCHE Consulting?

We have followed the DWD from its early implementation and take part in ECHA's IT tools user group discussions. In early 2026, we prepared and submitted a mock-up DWD application dossier as part of a training exercise of ECHA's Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC), which gave us first-hand experience of the new assessment and reporting requirements. This builds on more than 20 years of experience in EU chemicals risk assessment under REACH, BPR and PPPR.
